Built on the rim of Maktesh Ramon, at the edge of Mitzpe Ramon town, visit the Makhtesh Ramon Visitors Center. Hear about the tragic story of Col. Ilan Ramon, Israel’s first astronaut, who died when the Columbia space ship disintegrated on re-entry to earth, while also learning about the unique natural phenomena at your feet.

Option 2: Life on the Edge

Pump yourself up as you rappel down the northern wall of the Makhtesh Ramon while enjoying the stunning view of this unique natural phenomena on the way down.

Desert Bedouin Lunch

Visit a Bedouin tent and learn about the Bedouin lifestyle. Experience the Bedouin cuisine with a traditional Bedouin lunch.

Desert Camel Ride

Hop on a camel and take a short ride through the desert.

David Ben Gurion’s Hut

Visit David Ben Gurion’s Hut, the home and burial ground of Israel’s first Prime Minister. Learn about his legacy and pay tribute at his grave overlooking the Zin riverbed.

Taking Leave of Shabbat

Upon nightfall, with the sight of three stars, we end the Shabbat with the traditional “Havdalah” (literally, separation or distinction) – a bittersweet ceremony to pronounce the holiness of this sacred day over a cup of wine, fragrance and candlelight.
